Comox Valley Homes with Suites FAQ

What should I know before buying a water-access-only property on the North Island?

Many of the region's most private homes and cabins, especially among the islands near the Broughton Archipelago and along inlets like Quatsino Sound, have no road access. Plan how you will reach the property year-round (private boat, water taxi or floatplane), where you will keep a vehicle and trailer on the Vancouver Island side, and how fuel and building materials will get there. We also confirm the status of any dock or mooring, since structures on the foreshore generally need provincial authorization. Some lenders and insurers treat water-access homes differently, so it pays to line up financing early.
